Emily Ferrell

Emily Ferrell graduated from Troy University with a double BS in Secondary Education and History. After teaching Social Studies and History for a few years in Montgomery County, Emily and her husband, Pat, moved back to their hometown of Opp to pursue careers closer to family.

While growing her own family, Emily shifted gears to teach preschool at Becky's Kinder Kollege where she not only attended as a child but has also been employed for over ten years. Working at a business that has been open and serving the needs of the community for over forty years provided an invaluable experience to be able to be with her own children throughout the day as well as to teach lots of little minds the skills they need to be successful in Kindergarten.

Ever the Bobcat supporter and strong believer that everyone looks great in black and gold, Emily developed a passion for helping others see just how great Opp can be. While rural life can have limitations, it became very clear to Emily that Opp still offers so much to its residents, and she wanted to be sure everyone knew what was available.
In January of 2019, along with Amanda Henderson, Emily began a weekly feature on her social media accounts called Local Focus highlighting Opp businesses and landmarks in an effort to encourage residents to appreciate and support what they have access to right here in Opp.

Emily has over 20 years experience in education, and she plans on using the skills she's developed over the last two decades to help grow Opp Vision in Action Foundation.
